Winter Solstice meeting
25 people gathered on the evening of the Winter Solstice (December 21), to celebrate their being-ness, and to share with one another. We began with a ceremony involving candlelight and affirmations, and moved to an inspirational presentation about the recent global gathering of the Alliance for a New Humanity in Puerto Rico. A slide show provided a vicarious visual feast of the event, which had Deepak Chopra and several Nobel Prize winners in attendance. We also now have an opportunity to network with others across the world in this organization, by joining the Alliance Network (www.thealliancenetwork.org). The possibilities are unlimited.

November 30 meeting
Twenty five people gathered at Common Ground, Thursday evening, November 30, to listen, share, and discover what the Alliance for a New Humanity might mean for them, for our group, and for the larger global community. The evening began with a simple candlelight ritual, with each person sharing a little about their daily spiritual practice, followed by a PowerPoint presentation that tried to capture the meaning, structure, and purpose of this organization. This was followed by small group discussions in which individuals shared their personal focus, and identified the skills they might contribute to the overall effort. The balance of the evening involved sharing comments from the small groups, and a general discussion. The meeting closed on a high note with some inspirational music. The next meeting will be on Thursday, December 21, from 7:00 - 9:00.

Who We Are
Alliance for a New Humanity is a grassroots movement of people from all regions of the world, and from all walks of life. We are united by a common vision: to strengthen and sustain an actively compassionate humanity. To this vision, our local group--sponsored by Common Ground, an interfaith spiritual center in Tustin, California--is adding a spiritual component, based on the phrase: "Expressing Divinity, Embracing Humanity.
Crossroads - We live in critically insecure times: environmentally, politically and socially. We don't have ten or twenty years to reverse the downward spiral of events in our world. We have only a short time before the interconnectedness of negative trends could engulf us in global catastrophe.
Our Vision - As we participate in the creation of an alliance of people bonded by an awareness of humanity's interconnectedness, we will pursue opportunities to communicate with other groups around the world involved in this effort. We will listen, we will dialogue, we will offer our skills and resources to work toward common goals of peace, social justice, human rights, reversing environmental degradation, and promoting a sustainable world.
Our Dream - The phrase 'a new humanity' implies a dramatic shift in human consciousness. The critical mass of people necessary for this to occur is actually quite small. We are reminded of the phrase: "Do not believe that a small number of people cannot change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has." A small but critical mass of people, working together with a common vision, can indeed change the world.
