VII. THE COURAGE OF THE ALLIANCE
Courage! To do something we must first be willing to do it. Everything is a risk. Taking the first breath of the day and setting out is the first act of faith and courage in a day filled with challenges and opportunities. Courage is not a lack of fear. Courage is having fear and acting anyway.
There is very little we can do to prepare for courage. One of the few effective ways of bolstering courage is encouragement, to be encouraged by others, and to encourage others.
We want to see results, to see a peaceful world, a just world, a kinder way of life. We want to see everyone have enough to eat, good work available, and the earth honored and cared for. Obstacles are considerable, and the accompanying discouragement is natural.
We come together with courage to act. We come together for the purpose of connecting inwardly to the sources of our own strength, and then, using that strength we encourage each other. We need each other to put love into action.
Courage is the precursor and peace is the result. Everything else in-between is what we can work on.
We watched an inspiring video featuring indigenous Nobel Peace Prize winner Rigoberta Manchu, followed by remarks by Deepak Chopra, given at the recent global conference in Puerto Rico.
Through a guided visualization, group members began the process of envisioning what A New Earth and a New Humanity might look, feel, and act like. A lively discussion followed a writing exercise in which each person recorded their thoughts during the visualization.

Cordell, Thank you for this awesome recap of our gathering. It was a powerful evening in which many people began to get a glimpse of this New Story that Deepak Chopra mentions. We have incredible imagination within our group. I am so excited and enthusiastic about the vision, ideas and awareness that will burst forth in the months to come. Thank you for your willingness to be part of the planning team. Blessings to you and the whole Alliance group, Rev. Judy
Is there a way that perhapse those of us who are unable to actually attent the meetings to get involved with this group via the internet?
I for one attent Common Ground however due to my schedule, I am unable to attend the meetings that you guys have.
I am very interested in contributing what little skills and efforts that I do have though if possible via other means.
Please let me know if this would be possible.

Hello. I tried unsuccessfully to meet with your group last week - arrived at the appointed time and place but did not observe any groups. I approached a few people, but they all thought I was a bit whacked when I explained what I was looking for. I will try again next time.
I encourage the development of such forward-minded individuals to come together and propose how to improve our society.
My only regret is that your group has choosen to meet in a rather noisy gritty Pub / Steak House where the smell of cooked meat is overwhelming throughout the whole establishment. If there is any possibility you might consider alternative venues that are quieter (more condusive to discussion) and less carnivorous, it would be to your advantage. I am sure you do not intentionally wish to exclude potential members who may be vegetarians - as many peace and environmental activists are - but I for one would not be comfortable in that environment. The Boston/Cambridge area offers a wealth of better choices.
I look foreward to meeting you in the future.
